"I blame myself." "So do I."

Somewhat ironic that the first work I pick up on this site in about a year breaks something. I was uploading photos of my shiny new Sportwagen TDI, and in doing so I found that I needed to update my SlideShowPro because of new Flash versions. Well, doing so apparently necessitates that I recreate the swf with the new SSP extensions. I haven't gotten the time or motivation to do that just yet, so my photos page is effective down for a little bit. Hey, it took me a while to troubleshoot why no images were coming up in the first place - baby steps here.

As an aside, with the somewhat sweltering presence of many of my friends on Facebook, I found that I've had even less motivation to work on my site. However, social networking gimmicks will come and go, but this site will stay as long as I maintain it. I don't keep a diary of any sort, and I've enjoyed looking over old entries and remembering trips I took or events that transpired, so I'll make better effort to keep tabs here. For example, several friends and family members are currently having life-altering events taking place which help put some things in perspective for me.

On a more frivolous note, my townhouse is finally in full set up how I like it, a year later (barring the cluttered guest bedroom). A new car has taken up residence in the garage (see first paragraph). I am no closer to deciding if I want to move in a year or two with work down to Maryland, though my gut reaction is still "uh, no?" at this moment.

That's gotta be some cockroach

Been a while. Let's go from most to least important, shall we?

Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Wow. Yeah. It's been a few months since this information has been out, but I haven't said anything about it here. So now I have. There. And it's given me another kick in the ass to finish my proton pack project. That's being held up by another "project", though, detailed below.

Travel - Kevin and I went to Ft. Hood, Texas last week. The town was 'bleh', the noise was loud, but the weather was agreeable and the Longbows were cool. Tests were performed, data was recorded and training was given. Joe was nice and Buzz was very helpful (and he fed us wonderful things to boot). I put a few pics on the Photos section of the site.

House - Yeah, I bought a townhouse. It has a garage, which makes it awesome. I closed at the beginning of January. Due to a combination of work, travel and laziness, it doesn't quite look like it should just yet. Boxes still abound and there are cleaning-related tasks to be tackled, but I promise I'll get it looking presentable soon enough and invite people down to do...stuff. Once I reach that point, I'll take a few pics and post 'em.

Oh, and the Contact page mysteriously disappeared. I'm not sure why, but I'll have it back in a while.

There was a prophecy, just before his head died

This website is something like a mistreated pet. I'll forget about it for the longest time...let it starve, whimper, live in its own feces. Then I'll remember that I have it and suddenly start playing with it and giving it attention simply for my own selfish entertainment. I fully expect this site to one day up and die on me from the psychological mistreatment I've been doling out. But before that happens, let's recap on life in Gene's odd little realm of existence over the past few months.

Never get involved with possessed people

This is more of a request than an update...whoever has photos from last Saturday's St. Patty's day fun at Seaside, do share. In particular, ones of...well, you know. Yeah, that. I'd like to have one of those. kthxbai

An undersea unexplained mass sponge migration

So while I'm still stuck in California, I'm glad to announce that I've secured my own rental vehicle to alleviate my dependence on others. I've gone to a few places and seen a few things...but I thought the outright oddity of this warranted an early photo.

Am I the only one who thinks that's odd? WHY DOES IT SAY "GO NUTS" ON THE BACK? THAT'S TERRIBLE.

Suck in the guts guys, we're the Ghostbusters.

It has been, in fact, a mighty good week.

Thursday - Visited the city and introduced a certain someone to the wonders of McSorley's. It had been a while since my last infusion of the nectar of the gods, and she needed to see how magical it was.

Friday - Despite a rough start, we got a good crew out to Seabras (as previously mentioned), and large quantities of meat on swords was consumed.

Saturday - Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Guitar Hero @ Cha's, along with some Criminal Minds

Sunday - Down to Seaside for fun at a local bar, then silliness @ BJ's beach house. Drunkzilla made his most flagrant appearance in recent memory.

Monday - Mega-brunch care of BJ. We left utterly packed with french toast, omelets, bacon, pork rolls and some quasi-danish-like-things.

And now it's back to work. And then off to California for 3 weeks. Boo.

Now, while I'm a bum and don't have any pictures from the last week, I can present the goods from this summer's tailgate outing before the Traveling Virus show:

I'm testing out a new Flash slideshow tool there, so that page will be evolving somewhat.

Happy New Year and all that jazz to everyone.

Total protonic reversal

So yeah...y'know all that stuff I said I was gonna do 'round here?

Still working on it.

In the meantime, while some shit in my life was bad, other things were rather good. We seek to continue the good by changing things up this year. For my past 3 birthdays, we've done the McS thing which has, of course, been awesome. Due to timing issues and such, Seabra's Armory is the chosen locale for this Friday. Preliminary plans aim for 7:30 p.m.'ish, but I reserve the right to change that.
